Phase I: Planning Assessment
My assessment is based on the problems students create and solve. This demonstrates an understanding of division through having the students create problems themselves. The original lesson that gave me this idea is here: http://www.educationworld.com/a_lesson/dailylp/dailylp/dailylp210.shtml. This also shows that they know how to solve the problems based on their answers. This keeps students engaged because they are creating the work. It is also simple to meet individual student needs through alteration of the worksheet. If students have trouble with the word problems, you can assess how the students do with just the number sentences.
